Ndimande Brothers Finally Charged in Durban for AKA and Tibz Murders After Dramatic Extradition
The long-running investigation into the assassination of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his close friend, businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, has reached a pivotal moment. Brothers Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande have now been formally charged in Durban after being extradited from Eswatini, bringing a major breakthrough in one of South Africa’s most high-profile murder cases.
The pair, who had been fighting extradition for months, now face 20 criminal charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and multiple firearms offences. Several of the charges relate not only to the killings of AKA and Tibz but also to a string of violent crimes, including the murder of a taxi boss in Amanzimtoti.
Their handover took place on the morning of 11 November 2025 at King Shaka International Airport, where South African and Eswatini Interpol teams coordinated a tightly controlled cross-border operation. The Ndimande brothers were ushered under heavy police guard, escorted in a convoy monitored by elite tactical units and a police helicopter.
Within hours, the suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, where authorities confirmed they would stand trial alongside five other co-accused implicated in the coordinated hit that claimed the lives of AKA and Tibz outside a Durban restaurant in February 2023.
Prosecutors also outlined additional murder and attempted murder charges linked to separate cases, deepening the criminal profile surrounding the brothers.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe applauded the seamless cooperation between South African and Eswatini authorities, the National Prosecuting Authority, and Interpol, saying the extradition marks a significant step forward in securing justice for the Forbes and Motsoane families.
