Today, the South African gospel music community and countless fans gathered to bid farewell to the legendary artist Solomon 'Solly Moholo' Molokoane, who passed away last week at the age of 65. His funeral service was held at Akasia Hall in Pretoria, where family, friends, and notable figures came together to honor his remarkable life and legacy.

Moholo, known for his heartfelt contributions to gospel music, touched the lives of many with his powerful voice and inspirational messages. His untimely death has cast a shadow over the community, leading to an outpouring of grief and remembrance.

During the service, Moholo’s family expressed profound frustration regarding the medical care he received at the public hospital where he was admitted. They highlighted the inadequate services and lack of resources, revealing that the family had needed R700,000 for his operation but had only managed to raise R100,000. Now, the hospital bill stands at over R90,000, a heavy burden on a family already dealing with the loss of their beloved father.

The funeral was graced by several prominent figures, including Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, who delivered a heartfelt tribute, and poet Mzwakhe Mbuli, who spoke fondly of Moholo’s impact on the gospel genre. Professor JJ Tabane also shared his reflections on the artist’s contributions to society and the music industry.

As the service concluded, Solly Moholo’s dancers carried his coffin to his final resting place, performing a poignant dance to one of his most beloved songs, "Mphelegetse." This moving tribute was a fitting farewell to an artist whose spirit and music will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.

The legacy of Solly Moholo is one of resilience, faith, and a deep commitment to uplifting others through song. While the community mourns his loss, they also celebrate the profound impact he has made, ensuring that his contributions to gospel music will never be forgotten.
