Vogue Champagne Lounge Cancels Scotts Maphuma Performance After Guest Backlash

Vogue Champagne Lounge Cancels Scotts Maphuma’s Performance Following Guest Complaints
Vogue Champagne Lounge has officially canceled an upcoming performance by Scotts Maphuma following guest complaints and backlash on social media. Concerns were raised after Maphuma allegedly pushed away a fan seeking a hug, sparking widespread criticism.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the lounge emphasized that guest well-being and experience remain a top priority. Management stated that after carefully reviewing the feedback, they decided to remove Maphuma from their entertainment lineup.
Shortly after the cancellation, Scotts Maphuma and GIPA Entertainment issued a public apology on 8 May 2025:
"I want to sincerely apologize for my recent actions and words which disrespected and disappointed many of you. I lost perspective and take full responsibility.
This has been a wake-up call. I now understand the importance of staying grounded and connected to those who make the journey possible.
I’m committed to learning, growing, and regaining your trust through my actions.
Thank you to everyone who held me accountable. I hear you, and I will do better,” he stated.
Vogue Champagne Lounge reiterated its brand values, saying, “As a brand that stands for community, respect, and inclusivity, we do not take your voices lightly.”
Despite the apology, public reactions remain mixed. While some fans appreciated the gesture, others dismissed it as damage control following the loss of his booking.
The lounge thanked its patrons for their continued feedback and encouraged them to suggest future performers.
