Douala Launches Enrollment Platform for Mototaxi Regulation

The Douala Urban Community officially launched its mototaxi enrollment platform today, a move aimed at eliminating illegal mototaxi drivers. This initiative, previously announced earlier this month, was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and electronic transfer operators. The launch event took place at the Akwa Town Hall and was attended by administrative and municipal authorities, union presidents, and their entourages. Samuel Mvondo Mvondo, the promoter of the Moto Afrique Project, also participated.

"This initiative aims to professionalize the sector, ensuring economic viability for the drivers while maintaining public safety and order. It is also about keeping bad apples out of the profession," stated Douala's mayor, Roger Mbassa Ndine, during the launch.

The online enrollment platform will identify all mototaxis in Douala and allow citizens to report inappropriate behavior by mototaxi drivers. Offenders will be banned from operating within the city.
