Women in Construction
Premier Ntuli, MEC Meyer and She Builds committee

The Premier of Kwazulu-Natal Thamsanqa Ntuli and MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure Martin Meyer, launched the She Builds Advisory Body on Tuesday 20 January 2026 at the Masterbuilders KZN in Westville.

The launch of this body comes after a long time of women being sidelined in the construction industry. Furthermore, the purpose of this body is to showcase that women are also capable for the construction industry, despite the "Construction Mafias" that are being a threat.

MEC Meyer says "as the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, we are proud and passionate about She Builds. We really believe we have to make the industry inclusive, that is the whole purpose"

Premier Ntuli said he is very happy about this body because it will eliminate the gender based violence, as some women stay in toxic relationship solely because the man takes care of everything and women are subjected to stay home.

Now this will change because of this body, women will be given same opportunities as men in the construction industry.

Premier Ntuli says" She Builds is an Advisory body that inspires new hope for women in the construction and build environment, in Kwazulu-Natal and indeed across the country"
