“This is the worst accident we have seen in the Eastern Cape in a long time"
The crashed taxi on R63

Fifteen people have died and five others were injured in a crash involving a taxi and a bakkie. The accident happened around midnight on Saturday on the R63 between Adelaide and Maqoma, Fort Beaufort. It is believed the taxi was travelling from Qonce to Cape Town when it collided with the bakkie.

The driver of the bakkie died at the scene along with 13 passengers, including the taxi driver. 

Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose said six passengers were taken to hospital but one died on arrival.
