The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is actively pursuing a new title sponsor following speculation that DStv may terminate its existing deal with the league. An investigative report by SABC Sport suggests that DStv's parent company, Multichoice, is debating whether to end the partnership immediately or see out the remaining year of the five-year agreement made in 2020.

DStv took over as the league's title sponsor four years ago, succeeding ABSA, which held the position for 13 years starting in 2007.

According to the SABC report, PSL officials are now urgently looking for a new title sponsor, with Betway emerging as the leading candidate to replace DStv.

This urgency comes as the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season is set to begin next month. Mamelodi Sundowns, the reigning champions, secured their sixth consecutive title in the 2023/24 season.

The PSL is home to some of Africa's most prominent football clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, and Orlando Pirates. The latter two clubs are especially notable, boasting some of the largest fan bases on the continent.

As the PSL seeks a new title sponsor, the league aims to maintain its financial stability and uphold its reputation as one of Africa's premier football competitions.
