One person died in a chemical explosion at a factory in Jacobs

ALS emergency services were called to a factory on Balfour Street in Jacobs for reports of a chemical explosion.

The emergency services arrived at the place and found the condition to be serious and three people who were said to have been affected by the chemical explosion were injured. Two of them are in critical condition. While they were being treated, one of them was reported to have suffered a heart attack, the paramedics tried to save him, unfortunately he died on the spot.

Two were treated at the scene before being rushed to different hospitals in Durban. Currently, the cause of the explosion is unknown. However, all the necessary authorities are in place and will investigate further.
