The Independent Electoral Commision (IEC) has confirmed that the former South African President Jacob Zuma has been barred from the 2024 Elections due to the current constitution that state that a person is unfit to contest for the elections or hold public office  if they had been charged and setenced for over 12 Months. It is only after 5 years of serving the setence that the person can contest again. The decicion was motivated by one of the 8 the Objective motions that were received by the IEC, Moepya said apart from the Objective motions Jacob Zuma was still going to be barred from contesting on the upcoming elections due to his criminal record.

The IEC says it has received 8 Objective motions of which some of them were submitted after the prescribed time has passed, Moepfa said apart from the IEC to have been received 8 mtions only 2 were found admissible, having Jacob Zuma as one of those 2. The MK Party has been urged to elect a new precidential candidate sinze Zuma doesn't qualify. But the MK Party has dismissed the call to elect a new precidential candidate as they still insist that Jacob Zuma is still going to parliament.

MK Party Spokeperson Nhlamulo said that the party has reached the desicion to appeal the IEC Desicions to bare Zuma from contesting. Acording to the IEC Parties and independent candidates has until 2 April to appeal with the Electoral court that will then make a rulling on the 9th of April. The IEC has warned parties for violance after a threat made by Bonginkosi Khanyile few weeks back stating that the wont be elections should the IEC disqualify MK Paty or bare Zuma from Contesting
