They died instantly who were fighting with the police
A SUSPECT who was allegedly wanted by the KwaZulu-Natal police died in a gunfight with the police on Thursday afternoon.
The 22-year-old deceased is said to be the wanted as a leader of the feared West Gang, he was with two of his friends when they were found dead in Cottonlands, Verulam.
The police were tipped off that the suspect was heading to uMhlanga to collect drugs and weapons. As per the tip off, the police went there.
"When they left uMhlanga, the suspects changed the car they were traveling in and the police sat on their heels watching everything, they followed them until they parked on the side of Vincent Dickison Road, Cottonlands," said the police.
It is said that when the police approached the car, the suspects opened fire, and the riot started.
The deceased and his 27-year-old friend died on the spot, while the other escaped.
"The police are looking for the third suspect who fled, and they are still going to search the car that the suspects were traveling in, but we have found one gun that was held by the dead gang leader."
