Four Killed in Jeppestown Taxi Rank Shootout, Several Injured
Four people were shot and killed during a suspected clash between rival taxi associations at the Jeppestown taxi rank in Johannesburg this morning.
According to reports, two of the deceased are believed to be members of the taxi associations, while the other two were bystanders caught in the crossfire.
Gauteng Police Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni confirmed the fatalities, stating, “Thus far, we can confirm four fatalities. Additionally, three people were injured, one critically. Two of the injured individuals are bystanders, while the other is believed to be linked to a taxi association. The injured have been transported to the hospital for medical attention.”
Authorities are investigating the incident, and security measures in the area have been heightened.
