Malome Vector Dies in Tragic Car Crash
In a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon, former Ambitiouz Entertainment artist Bokang Moleli, known as Malome Vector, lost his life in a car accident. The crash also claimed the life of rising artist Lizwe Wokuqala, who was traveling with him.
The news of Malome Vector's untimely death was first reported by the Lesotho Times on their Facebook page:
"Unconfirmed reports indicate that a popular Lesotho musician, based in South Africa, died in a car crash this afternoon. Two more people also died."
A close friend, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed to *Sunday World* that Malome Vector and Lizwe Wokuqala were in the car together, although their destination remains unknown.
Born amid the scenic landscapes of Maseru, Lesotho, Malome Vector rose to fame in South Africa's Afro-pop and hip-hop scenes. He became a household name with hits like "Dumelang" and "Nobody" after being discovered by Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2020.
Reflecting on his early life, Malome Vector once said, “I grew up surrounded by mountains and spent my days herding livestock, dreaming of the possibilities beyond the horizon.”
Last year, Malome Vector made headlines by leaving Ambitiouz Entertainment to start his own record label, The Whole Time Entertainment. He later secured a distribution deal with Ingrooves Africa (Electromode), a top global distributor, to extend his reach even further.
Lizwe Wokuqala was the first artist signed to Malome Vector's new label. They had just released Lizwe’s latest single, "eLesotho," last week, highlighting the promising future Lizwe had ahead.
Malome Vector's impact on music went beyond his hits. His song "Dumelang," a collaboration with Durban rapper Baq Diamond, was a significant milestone in his career. The song, which means "Hello" in Sotho, introduced the world to his unique fusion of hip-hop, Afro-pop, and famo, a traditional Sotho folk music genre.
His ability to blend different musical styles and his heartfelt lyrics made him a beloved figure in both Lesotho and South Africa. As he worked on new music, fans eagerly awaited his next creations, which will now sadly remain unreleased.
Malome Vector's family is expected to release a formal statement soon, but his manager has confirmed the heartbreaking news. The music community and fans are mourning the loss of an artist who had so much more to offer.
As everyone comes to terms with this tragedy, Malome Vector's musical legacy will continue to inspire future generations. This story is developing, and more details will be provided as they emerge.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of Malome Vector and Lizwe Wokuqala during this incredibly difficult time.
