In a bold move signaling a new era for Richards Bay FC, the Natal Rich Boyz have clinched a monumental R100 million sponsorship deal and unveiled key acquisitions ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

According to reports initially covered by FARPost, Richards Bay FC has bolstered its squad with several high-profile signings. Midfielders Siyethemba Sithebe and Tlakusani Mthethwa, striker Thabiso Kutumela, and defender Keegan Allan headline the new recruits. Sithebe, formerly of Kaizer Chiefs, joins after a stint affected by injury, while Allan arrives from SuperSport United. Mthethwa, from Moroka Swallows, and Kutumela, previously at Mamelodi Sundowns, further enhance the team's attacking prowess and defensive stability.

Richards Bay FC has also secured promising talents from the KZN ABC Motsepe League side Mkhumbane Classic FC. Defenders Fezile Gcaba and Sbani Mntungwa join the squad, adding depth and local talent to the team's defensive line.

In a significant financial boost, Phakwe Gas has been unveiled as the club's new title sponsor, committing R100 million over a three-year period. This sponsorship deal underscores Richards Bay FC's ambitions to elevate its stature within the South African football landscape and compete at the highest level of the PSL.

Last season proved to be a testing period for Richards Bay FC, as they battled to retain their DStv Premiership status. Finishing 15th in the league standings with 30 points after 30 games, the Natal Rich Boyz navigated through the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs successfully. Facing tough competition from Motsepe Foundation Championship sides AmaTuks and Baroka FC, Richards Bay FC secured their place in the top tier for the upcoming season.

With a strengthened squad and substantial financial backing from Phakwe Gas, Richards Bay FC is poised for a resurgence in the 2024/25 PSL season. The club's strategic acquisitions and sponsorship deal highlight their commitment to competitiveness and sustainability in South African football.
